Description: |
During this intense three day workshop you will develop a mastery over several techniques. The goal of this class is to provide an in-depth study of three specific dimensional kiln forming methods. To achieve this goal you will complete from start to finish. A kiln casting invested mold with a 4" x 4" x 1" bas relief tile. You will be given the process and firing schedule information that will allow you to create a much larger kiln casting at home. Precision Pate de Verre techniques will be used to create a glass leaf, which is two sided. The Cire Perdue method of sculpting will be used to create a 2" x 2" x 1" lost wax sculpture that will have undercuts and the finest of details. Your detailed sculpey clay model will be cast into a two part rubber mold. Wax casting can be repeatedly formed from the rubber mold. The wax will be encased in a Cire Perdue investment then steamed out so glass can be placed inside the mold and fired. Goal: two sided leaf, freeze fuse leaf, open face kiln casting, reverse billet casting, lost wax casting. |
